  • Do you know what a Tooled Belt is?

Designs of a symmetric nature tooled into the body-strap of a belt. In preparation for summer, The Beggars Pouch Leather usually uses the preceding months to do a lot of production. In this case, we've made nearly 300 unique, tooled belts of black, brown, red, tan and other colors with so many different designs that listing them all here would take pages. A belt is something more than just a strap of hide that keeps your pants from falling down, it's a garment as important as any other. The clothing we choose to wear all carries with it a message about the style and impression we want to convey in others. These belts can say much with just once accessory. Come in and find the belt that's perfect for you. We will custom-fit it to your waist line.

  • Old Praise from NH Magazine Rediscovered

In reading an online version of the New Hampshire magazine, Mike, "The guy with the Beard"; found an article mentioning us in a blurb at the bottom of the piece. And I quote,                                                        "Beggars Pouch Leather on White Mountain Highway in North Conway can be a great stop for those who are in search for a  distinct type of belt, boot or other leather accessory." Well this is none the less true, as we do still carry a variety of steam punk accessories. Top-hats with gears embedded in the straps, wrist bands with gears in the concho that actually move when gently prodded. Gauntlet gloves as well as heavy and thick leather belts. Yet the article itself was from 2013, May to be ...

  • Grandfather Shirts are BACK and a fond farewell…

With the change of every season is heralded changes around us. After a few years, the cotton grand-father styled shirts have finally come back into stock. They're comfortable, they breathe and we have them in four colors, blue, white, black, and a washed-out looking red. It took us awhile to find a company that had started making these kinds of shirts again, to whit we thank Sea Breeze of California for doing so. Now that we have them back, do stop by, and get a shirt perfect for this season. In turn, a bit of a downer in that Ben Leslie, our chief  Stitcher  of eight years is moving onto a different line of work. I know all of us are offering him the best hopes and wishes in his new career. He was a reliable, friendly, talented employee that will be missed. Bon Voyage' !

  • A first time for The Beggars’ Pouch

A couple wandered into the shop on Super Bowl Sunday. They had never visited before and had no idea we were here. They were wearing their Pats hats, just as I was and we got talking. The gent asked if I made sheaths. I explained that I made a large variety of knife sheaths. He wasn't interested in a knife sheath, he wanted a custom leather sheath made for his machete! Which he just happened to have in his keep. It seems he is a dentist from Vermont who, in his spare time leads archaeological excursions to Central America. (Indiana Jones?). We chatted, they figured out what features he needed for the sheath; removable shoulder strap, belt loop, a little bling, maybe some type of tooled design. Then, as they were leaving he told me to just have fun making it. So I did!
